Water Planet Aquapark Alanya
Right then you lot listen in because if you are currently sweating your cobs off in Turkey and wondering how to cool down without just sitting in the hotel pool all day I have got the answer for you. It is called Water Planet Aquapark and if you have not been yet you are missing a trick. Now I have been traipsing up and down this coastline for years and I have seen my fair share of water parks but Water Planet Aquapark is a bit of a legend in these parts. It is not just a few slides and a lukewarm puddle it is a proper day out that will tire out the kids and give you a bit of a thrill as well. But before you grab your swimmers and leg it out the door there are a few things you need to know so you do not get mugged off or end up spending a fortune unnecessarily.
First things first let us talk about where Water Planet Aquapark actually is because it is not slap bang in the middle of Alanya. It is located in a place called Okurcalar which is about thirty kilometers west of Alanya town centre. This is where a lot of tourists trip up. They think they can just hop in a yellow taxi from the harbour and pop down to Water Planet Aquapark. Do not do that. The taxi meter will be spinning faster than a fan in a heatwave and you will end up spending your beer money on a twenty minute ride. The smart way to get to Water Planet Aquapark is to use the local buses. You want the bus that goes towards Manavgat or Antalya. Just stand on the main road locally known as the D400 and flag one down. Tell the driver you want Water Planet Aquapark and he will drop you right near the entrance. It costs peanuts compared to a taxi and it is dead easy.
Once you arrive at Water Planet Aquapark you will realize why it is such a big deal. The location is absolutely mental. It is built right on top of a cliff overlooking the sea. The views from the infinity pool at Water Planet Aquapark are proper lush and probably the best selfie spot you are going to find on your entire holiday. But you are not here to look at the view you are here for the slides. Water Planet Aquapark has got loads of them. You have got the Black Hole which is dark and disorienting and the Kamikaze which is basically a vertical drop that will make your stomach do a flip. If you are a bit of an adrenaline junkie Water Planet Aquapark is also famous for having a bungee jump. Yes you heard me right. You can hurl yourself off a crane right over the sea. It costs extra mind you but if you have got the bottle for it it is a cracking story to tell the lads back at the pub.
Now let me give you some serious warnings about surviving a day at Water Planet Aquapark. The floor around the pools and slides gets hot. I mean proper scorching hot. If you walk around barefoot you are going to end up hopping about like a kangaroo on a hot tin roof. Do yourself a massive favour and bring some water shoes or keep your flip flops on until the very last second. Another thing to watch out for at Water Planet Aquapark is the sun. Because you are in and out of the water all day you do not feel the heat as much and the breeze on the cliff can be deceptive. You will burn to a crisp if you are not careful. Slap on the factor fifty especially on your shoulders and back or you will be in agony for the rest of the week.
Let us talk about grub and drinks at Water Planet Aquapark. Like most theme parks the food prices inside can be a bit steep. They have got distinct rules about bringing your own food in so do not try to smuggle a three course meal in your beach bag because they will probably find it. The best bet is to look for an all inclusive ticket option. Sometimes the tour operators on the street sell a package for Water Planet Aquapark that includes your entry and your lunch and unlimited soft drinks. That is usually the best value for money because once you start buying burgers and cokes individually the cost racks up fast. If you are doing it DIY just eat a massive breakfast at your hotel before you go so you only need a snack at lunch.
One thing that makes Water Planet Aquapark stand out is that it caters to everyone. If you have got toddlers there is a decent kids area with smaller slides so they do not feel left out. If you just want to chill the lazy river at Water Planet Aquapark is decent although it can get a bit clogged up with rubber rings during peak season. Speaking of peak season if you go in July or August it is going to be rammed. The queues for the popular slides at Water Planet Aquapark can get long. My advice is to get there as soon as the gates open. Smash out the big slides like the Kamikaze first while everyone else is still putting on their sun cream. Save the pool and the lazy river for the afternoon when the queues are longest.
Also a quick word on the lockers at Water Planet Aquapark. You will need one for your phone and your wallet. They usually charge a deposit for the key or the wristband. Make sure you have got some cash on you for this because sometimes the card machines play up. And for heaven’s sake do not lose the key in the pool or you will never hear the end of it from your other half.
So to wrap it all up Water Planet Aquapark is a blinding day out if you plan it right. Do not get ripped off by a taxi use the bus. Get there early to beat the mobs. Wear shoes so you do not burn your feet. And if you are brave enough have a go at the bungee jump. It is one of the top things to do in the region and Water Planet Aquapark really delivers on the fun factor.
Now it is your turn. I know loads of you Brits flock to this coast every summer. Have you been to Water Planet Aquapark. Did you do the bungee jump or did you chicken out. What did you think of the food prices. Drop a comment below and share your wisdom. Your tips are pure gold for the next lot of travelers coming out here so do not be shy. Let us help each other out and make sure everyone has a top notch holiday. Cheers everyone.
